Application Engines

Intalio|PaaS includes an extensive collection of application engines that can be used to support the development of virtually any application. These application engines are all written in Java and deployed on top of a single OSGi container, making them highly interoperable with each other.

Application Server

Intalio|Application Server is based on Intalio|Jetty, the most popular Java Application Server. Intalio|Jetty powers some of the largest cloud applications today, such as Facebook, Google AppEngine, Yahoo! and Zimbra. Intalio|Application Server can be used to deploy any J2EE application, in a scalable and fault-tolerant manner.

Code Engine

Intalio|Code Engine can be used to deploy custom code written in Java or X#. Furthermore, Intalio|Labs is working on a next-generation code engine that will support additional languages such as C#, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Scala, while providing direct object binding between them (release timeframe to be announced).

Database Engine

Intalio|Database Engine (also known as Intalio|XRM) is a proprietary object-relational middleware layer that allows any Java object or XML document to be stored natively into any relational database, including MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server. The Database Engine supports both 1-N and N-N relationships between objects.

Process Engine

Intalio|Process Engine is based on Apache ODE (Learn More) and Drools Flow (Learn More), and is capable of executing processes serialized in both BPEL 2.0 and BPMN 2.0, in a scalable and fault-tolerant manner. Designed for high performance, it can process over 25,000 distributed transactions per minute on a single CPU.

Rules Engine

Intalio|Rules Engine is based on Drools (Learn More), a Java implementation of the Rete algorithm (Learn More). Intalio|Rules Engine can be used to evaluate complex business rules, as well as support the definition and processing of Domain Specific Languages (Learn More).

Reporting Engine

Intalio|Reporting Engine is based on JasperReports (Learn More) and supports a wide range of data sources and report export formats. Intalio|Labs is also working on integrating an open source OLAP engine in order to support multi-dimensional data analysis (release timeframe to be announced).

Enterprise Service Bus

Intalio|ESB is based on the Apache ActiveMQ message broker (Learn More) and the Apache Camel (Learn More) integration framework. Intalio|Labs is also working on a complete SOA Platform (Service Oriented Architecture) to be released under the Apache License.

Document Engine

Intalio|Document Engine is based on OpenOffice (Learn More) and provides supports for documents, presentations, and spreadsheets, with full import/export capabilities with Microsoft Office. Intalio|Document Engine also provides support for the OOXML document format (Learn More).

Document Repository

Intalio|Document Repository is based on Nuxeo DM (Learn More), which provides a scalable implementation of the Java Content Repository API (Learn More), for both JSR-170 and JSR-283. Intalio|Document Repository provides features such as document storage, versioning, indexing, searching, and access control.

Portal Engine

Intalio|Portal Engine is based on Liferay (Learn More) and provides a scalable and user-friendly implementation of the JSR-168 Portlet Specification (Learn More). It also provides a comprehensive library of over 65 pre-built portlets, including team calendar, shared document folder, blog, forum, wiki, and real-time chat.

UI Engine

Intalio|UI Engine is based on an abstract user interface language (XUIML) and a powerful user interface transcoder allowing generic user interfaces to be designed once and specific presentation layers to be produced on the fly. Intalio|UI Engine currently supports both AJAX and Flex as presentation layers.

Mobile Engine

Intalio|Mobile Engine is based on Funambol (Learn More) and provides mobile and offline access to contacts, events, emails, and tasks, for a variety of mobile platforms, including Android, BlackBerry, iPad (Cf. Intalio for iPad), iPhone, Symbian, and Windows Mobile.

Security Engine

Intalio|Security Engine is based on the Central Authentication Service (Learn More) for single sign-on and a unified access control system for the management of user entitlements and roles. Intalio|Security Engine supports most directory services, including Active Directory and LDAP.
