Cloud Controller

Intalio|Cloud Controller is an administration tool for private cloud deployments. It manages cloud applications through their entire life cycle, from provisioning to monitoring, metering, and billing. Intalio|Cloud Controller also supports hybrid clouds with cloudbursting to public clouds.

Manage Cloud Application Life Cycles

Intalio|Cloud Controller lets developers package applications for cloud deployment, using two levels of virtualization in order to support multi-tenancy (Learn More). With the first level, multi-tenancy is achieved with CPU virtualization, using a hypervisor such as VMware vSphere. With the second level, it is achieved with Application Server virtualization, leveraging a multi-tenant version of the Jetty application server. Intalio|Cloud Controller provides the following services:

  • Application Packaging
  • Application Deployment
  • Application Provisioning
  • Monitoring
  • Metering
  • Billing API

Support Multiple IaaS Layers

Intalio|Cloud supports any Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) layer powered by VMware vSphere, including VMware vCenter, Savvis, or Terremark. Additionally, Intalio|Labs is currently working on adding support for other hypervisors, including Hyper-V, VirtualBox, and Xen (release timeframe to be announced).

Burst to Public Clouds

While private clouds run most applications on premises, the need to leverage public cloud computing resources can arise for a variety of reasons: temporary need for additional compute and storage capacity, access to a totally separate infrastructure for disaster recovery purposes, geographic or network proximity to remote end users, etc. For this purpose, Intalio|Labs is working on a generic cloudbursting infrastructure that will support a variety of public clouds, including Amazon Web Services.
