Elastic Database

Intalio|Elastic Database provides an elastically scalable and fault-tolerant database infrastructure for private cloud deployment. It provides nearly horizontal scalability for applications that require the SQL language and perform significantly more READ than WRITE transactions.

Optimized for Online Applications

Intalio|Elastic Database is optimized for the class of applications that require support for SQL and transactions, yet perform at least an order of magnitude more read operations than write operations. A perfect example of such applications can be found with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Social Networking. Intalio|Elastic Database supports multiple database servers, including MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server, with MySQL Cluster being used by default.

Elastically Scalable

Intalio|Elastic Database can be deployed in a single virtual machine using a fraction of the CPU and memory capacity offered by a single host, or on a cluster made of several dozens of hosts, in a fully elastic manner. As applications perform more and more transactions against the logical database, Intalio|Elastic Database dynamically allocate more hosts (Cf. Elasticity) and perform the necessary load balancing, while ensuring dynamic failover in case of a hardware failure (Cf. Failover).

Looking at the Future

While Intalio follows with great interest the work recently done by the NoSQL movement (Learn More), we genuinely believe that next-generation database technologies such as Apache Cassandra (Learn More) will eventually support a meaningful-enough subset of SQL that will make them applicable for applications such as CRM. Intalio|Labs is taking an active part in this long-term endeavor by developing prototypes with customers and partners.
