Elastic Database

Intalio|Elastic Database provides an elastically scalable and fault-tolerant database infrastructure for private cloud deployment. It provides nearly horizontal scalability for applications that require the SQL language and perform significantly more READ than WRITE transactions.

Intalio|Elastic Database can be deployed in a single virtual machine using a fraction of the CPU and memory capacity offered by a single host, or on a cluster made of several dozens of hosts, in a fully elastic manner. As applications perform more and more transactions against the logical database, Intalio|Elastic Database dynamically allocates more hosts and performs the necessary load balancing, while ensuring sub-second failover in case of a hardware failure.

The Master Server is used for all WRITE transactions on the database, while the Slave Servers are used for READ transactions only. The number of Slave Servers is set to match the ratio of READ to WRITE transactions of the application supported by the elastic database. For a typical CRM application, this ratio is about 10 to 1, which means that an elastic database configuration can take advantage of a dozen hosts—enough for the vast majority of database applications currently in use.
