Jetty

Intalio|Jetty is the most widely deployed Java application server. Its small memory footprint and high performance make it the perfect choice for Cloud Computing applications. Intalio|Jetty is also the only Java application server small enough to fit on a cellphone.

Jetty is a compact implementation of an HTTP server, HTTP client, and Servlet container. It is open source, dual licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and the Eclipse Public License. It is ideally suited for embedding, due to its small footprint, and design philosophy of being a well behaved component that can be added to nearly any application. Jetty is also among the most scalable servers available through its trailblazing implementation of asynchronous servlet facilities. With Jetty, you can use the same fast and light container for development, test, and production, as many others do (Cf. Powered by Jetty).

"Jetty is a critical part of the Vodafone 360 infrastructure. Jetty Continuations give us an edge in performance for COMET and long-polling applications with thousands of concurrently connected users. Jetty's simplicity and reliability has been a productivity gain throughout the project."

—Phil Jeffrey, Principle Development Manager, Vodafone 360

This ease and breadth of usage is true for traditional servers, network devices, phones, and many other innovative use cases. With its wide commercial product, open source project, Eclipse Foundation acceptance, and leading implementation of relevant server standards, Jetty is the ideal server and client component for your project.
